Vocalist Deb Callahan belts it out on a collection of mostly from her own pen and guitarist Chris Arms and a swampy team of Allen James/g, Garry Lee/b, Tom Walling/Dany Schogger/p-org and a backing horn-vocal tam. She rides Lee’s bass line on the funky “What I’m Working With” like a long boader, oozes slow and steamy on the boogie-ing’ A Few New Tricks” and goes dark, darker darkest around an ominous slide guitar of “Cleaning House”. From soft acoustic to bold electric, she builds up to a climax on “Still Fighting To Be Free” and shows her strutting soul on “Just What The Doctor Ordered” and “Don’t Tread On Me”. Brass knuckled blues-she’s got a punch.
