March 15, 2021
Dear Friends,
I don’t think any of us could have imagined in mid-March 2020 that a year later we would still be living with and navigating a global COVID pandemic! I truly hope each and every one of you is healthy, safe and managing ok in these strange times. While this year has been incredibly intense and challenging at times, I feel truly blessed to be going through it with my amazing and supportive family and friends and to feel a sense of love, peace and appreciation for the simple aspects of life that I have sometimes taken for granted.
Performing live music hasn’t been as much of an option this year so I found myself stepping back, letting go and delving into other interests of mine. I did a lot of reading and discussing about US and World history, racism, social systems, oppression, and felt a renewed sense of commitment to social change efforts. I also enjoyed the quiet and solitude of staying home more and using my creative energy to do house projects such as painting, stripping paint where needed, fixing things, organizing and yard work. I loved that I was around more on the weekends to have more time to hang out with my 10 year old son. I listened to a lot of music and while I was able to perform a few outdoor gigs and online concerts, performing was put on the backburner. It wasn’t until the last few months that I let myself focus more on music and fall in love with the process of playing and writing again. I recently started playing my Martin acoustic guitar again and am having a lot of fun getting reacquainted. I am hopeful that better times are ahead and I look forward to spending time with many of you when the time is right.
There will be music this spring-summer so please check out my tour schedule even though my shows will be local!
In peace,
Deb
